Restylane

Men and women who experience signs of aging in their face often look to treatments to help diminish their appearance; however, many of these individuals seek non-surgical methods to alleviate these bothersome features. At the practice of Dr. Pertsch in San Mateo and Mountain View, patients may undergo Restylane® injections. This facial filler can help plump up lines, wrinkles, and creases.

During a consultation with Dr. Pertsch, you can discuss your options, desired outcome, and have questions/concerned addressed to ease any stress regarding the procedure. Restylane is a biodegradable gel based on hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the skin. Since Restylane is based on a non-animal, naturally occurring substance, it reduces the risk of any allergic reaction, disease transmission, or other complications from occurring. In addition, no skin test is required prior to treatment. When injected, it can smooth wrinkles and folds, add volume to your lips, or give shape to your facial contours.

The Restylane treatment sessions take less than 30 minutes and patients can return to their normal routine soon after. The results are instantaneous and last anywhere from six to 12 months. Since Restylane is biodegradable, when it breaks down, it turns into water and carbon dioxide, and disappears without a trace from your body. In order to maintain a younger-looking appearance, it may be recommended to undergo additional treatment sessions. Dr. Pertsch may also recommend other facial rejuvenating procedures to achieve an overall enhancement via non-invasive treatments.

Some of the most commonly combined treatments include Botox® injections, chemical peels, laser resurfacing, and microdermabrasion. Botox can help block muscle movement in the treated area in order to prevent lines and wrinkles from forming. This is often used in the forehead, between the brows, around the eyes, and in the nasolabial folds. Sun spots, acne scars, and uneven pigmentation may be treated with chemical peels, laser resurfacing and/or microdermabrasion.

The combination of one or more of these treatments with Restylane injections can help patients achieve a refreshed and youthful appearance. When performed on younger patients, they may also help stave off the need for a cosmetic plastic surgery procedure until they are older. In order to determine which of these procedures may be of most benefit to your particular needs and desired outcome, it is best to make an appointment with Dr. Pertsch.

Please feel free to schedule an initial consultation at one of Dr. Pertsch facilities – Mountain View or San Mateo – to learn more regarding your options in facial rejuvenation. A more thorough explanation of the Restylane injection treatment can be attained. In addition, you may view before and after photos of previous patient results to gain insight of the potential results.
