Botox®

Botox® Cosmetic has helped millions of people, both men and women, attain their aesthetic goals. It remains the top non-surgical treatment in the country for several reasons; it offers individuals a virtually pain-free experience, effective results, and quick treatment time. After all, not everyone desires plastic surgery for a more youthful look or has the time to set aside for an invasive procedure (including recovery time).

Meeting the needs of men and women seeking more youthful appearances, Dr. Pertsch safely administers Botox injections on a regular basis. First introduced in 2002, Botox is an FDA-approved facial injectable that is made of a purified form of botulinum toxin Type A. It is designed to block specific muscle movement that causes wrinkles to form. As aging naturally progresses and becomes apparent in the face, Botox can temporarily, yet dramatically, halt the development of these unwanted wrinkles.

Areas of the face that will benefit from Botox injections, include the:

  • Forehead
  • Frown lines
  • Around the eyes (“crow’s feet”)
  • Upper lip (“smoker’s lines”)
  • Neck muscle bands
  • Can give outer eyebrow lift

The entire treatment time is approximately 10 minutes, although this may vary slightly depending on how many areas are treated (many patients receive treatment in multiple regions during one visit).

Dr. Pertsch strives to create a comfortable experience for his patients, which is why he takes two precautionary methods to ensure that they have a rewarding experience; Dr. Pertsch puts on a strong topical anesthetic on the patient’s skin prior to treatment. This numbing treatment ultimately helps to save time because the procedure can be done with greater ease for both him and the patient. In addition, the tiniest of needles are used for injections, which he changes frequently during treatment. This helps to avoid any pain that may develop from using a dull needle.

If the patient wants to maintain his or her new, youthful look, additional sessions will be required approximately every three months. Because there is no downtime, the individual can carry on with the rest of his or her day following treatment. If a patient is unhappy with Botox efforts once the treatment wears off, the facial appearance will return to its natural state in about two and a half to three and a half months.

The consultation is a crucial time for both the patient and Dr. Pertsch. He will provide the necessary informational packet regarding the details of Botox, as well as learn of his or her cosmetic needs and suggest the alternatives should this injectable not be the best option for the patient. Dr. Pertsch recommends additional procedures if an individual expresses interest, be it a facial filler or a cosmetic surgery procedure like a facelift or brow lift.

*Botox can also treat headache tension or severe sweating (hyperhidrosis). Dr. Pertsch can discuss your options with you during a consultation.
